Theme of the conference

Economicaland social crisis in these turbulent times challenge sociologicalskills and our imagination. Since its beginnings as a scientificdiscipline sociology seeks answers to several social issues in verydifferent historical  contexts. In unstable moments like the ones weare living in, research agendas are usually redefined, theories areoften confronted with new ideas and obliged to change. On the otherhand, social inequalities tend to be deepened and social cohesionthreatened.

Sociological gatherings like Conferences serve totest our capacities and conceptual resources to understand and explainthese societal trends. We invite scholars from all over the world tojoin us in Genève and to debate their work and their findings.
